Projects
Our project portfolio encompasses the range of private and public sectors. We work for central government agencies, local authorities, developers and private clients throughout New Zealand. Our clients' objectives are wide and varied, however all have interests that depend on transportation, access, circulation and layout.
The projects we undertake are as diverse as those who commission them. They range from the complex planning needed to manage the transportation requirements of special events to planning consent applications for developments in urban and rural settings from North Cape to Bluff.
Our involvement ranges from retail and commercial projects, primary industry projects to leisure and recreation developments. Studies range from motorway planning, to the design of local streets, intersections, bus lanes, pedestrian crossings and cycle lanes.
Some examples of our work are available here.
Hastings Urban Transportation Study
Hastings District Council commissioned TDG to complete a detailed transportation model and study to cover the urban areas of Hastings and Havelock North. The purpose of the study was to define the network hierarchy as a base to shape the future structure of the roading network and to expose the opportunities for multi modal travel in and around Hastings.
Waikato Transportation Model
In this Waikato Study, TDG was instructed in October 2007 in conjunction with Gabites Porter to develop a robust predictive model to evaluate projects, policies and plans to meet the objectives of the Land Transport Management Act and the NZ Transport Strategy. A three stage model of the Waikato Region is to be developed with a four stage sub-model of Greater Hamilton which includes all modes of transport. A further key requirement of the project is to develop an integrated forecasting tool that is wholly owned and controlled by the multi-party client.
Christchurch Freight Modelling
Environment Canterbury commissioned TDG in 2006 to build the Christchurch Commercial Vehicle Model. The objective of the project was to develop a predictive model of medium and heavy commercial vehicle trips for the greater Christchurch area and to fully integrate this with the four stage person-based Christchurch Transportation Model separately developed by TDG.
State Highway 16
The section of SH16 between Westgate and Waterview forms part of the strategic regional transport network for the Auckland region and connects West Auckland with the central, southern and western parts of Auckland. In this role, the route forms part of Auckland Western Ring Route and has recently been added as one of the Routes of National Significance announced by Government.
Mt Eden Prison
TDG has been engaged by the primary architects on behalf of the Department of Corrections to assist with the refurbishment and expansion of the combined Mt Eden Prison and Auckland Central Remand Prison site. Our involvement commenced in mid-2006, including preparation of a detailed Transportation Assessment Report and technical inputs to the associated Notice of Requirement, which was completed and confirmed in 2007/2008. Construction is now well underway.
