Wellington’s waterfront has undergone a substantial transformation in the last 20 years and TDG has been there throughout, enabling high quality pedestrian spaces to be created alongside a range of building developments.
From one end of the waterfront to the other, these developments include the Shed 21 apartments, Meridian Building (Property Council of NZ Green Building of the Year), Kumototo Plaza, Union Steamship Building, Shed 5 restaurant, Queens Wharf complex, TSB Bank Arena, Taranaki Wharf, Free Ambulance, Odlins and Macs Brewery buildings, Te Papa and Waitangi Park. TDG is currently also working on a range of other exciting developments for the waterfront, and is providing key advice to ensuring the safe movement of pedestrians and cyclists.
The projects have involved the collation of detailed pedestrian and cycle movement data, analysing vehicle paths, forecasting traffic use, modelling traffic flows, confirming safe pedestrian connections with the city centre achieving convenient access from the 6-lane waterfront arterial, and contributing to the urban design of attractive environments.
