SCATS

SCATS is an advanced computer system for an area based traffic management intersection control system. It responds in real-time to changes in traffic flow and conditions and adjusts the phasing at each traffic light signal.  Used around the world, SCATS is also deployed extensively throughout New Zealand and is used in all major cities.

The SCATS real-time optimisation generates for all road users by reducing travel times, reducing vehicle stops, reducing fuel consumption and minimising time spent at red lights. This results in wider network and community benefits from lowering vehicle emissions, maximising capacity in the road network and improving road safety.
